Signs Your Vehicle Needs An Oil Change

Your vehicle shows you all kinds of signs when it is in need of some type of maintenance. However, you need to take care of the maintenance before these signs appear to avoid additional problems. This is true of tire rotations and balancing, alignments, brake adjustments, and even oil changes. Your vehicle will show you signs if it's in need of an oil change, and the signs are never good ones. When it comes to the motor on your vehicle, this is not something you should ever mess around with, so if your vehicle is showing you any of these warning signs, you need to take your vehicle in right away to be serviced. Read on for some signs your vehicle needs an oil change.

Your Indicator Light Is On

The indicator light in your vehicle may just be telling you that your oil change is necessary soon, but sometimes that light may have been on for some time, and driving around without oil or without clean oil can do a number on your vehicle. If your indicator light is on, you should figure out when your last oil change was, and if it's over the mileage referenced in your owner's manual for your particular vehicle, you should have your oil changed. If you aren't over that mileage, you may want to check the oil in your vehicle to be sure you don't have a leak somewhere and then get your vehicle in to be serviced.

Your Engine Is Sluggish

If your engine is acting sluggish or you notice other issues with it lurching or that it just isn't running properly, you may want to check the oil in your vehicle. There are vehicles on the road that consume a lot of oil, and in these cases, you could end up with some major engine issues if you are driving around without any oil. The oil in your vehicle lubricates the pistons and the cylinders, so if there isn't any oil, those moving parts are just going to start rubbing on one another and will eventually give way. This can be a costly mistake, so check your engine oil level and have it taken in for an oil change, or just have oil added to your vehicle.

If you notice these signs or you have noticed other signs that are not normal in your vehicle, you should take it in for an oil change and for whatever other service may be necessary.
